About the Role
As the first dedicated finance hire, you will own the finance function end-to-end, establishing flawless fundamentals and building scalable processes, tooling, and budgets to support the company's growth to $1B+ ARR. This hands-on role requires deep accounting understanding, relentless execution, and a proactive approach to financial operations.
Responsibilities
- Own supplier payments end-to-end, including vendor negotiations, approval workflows, and timely payments.
- Manage customer invoicing for over 1,000 law firm and enterprise clients.
- Partner with RevOps to collect overdue invoices and ensure consistent cash flow.
- Run external accountants to achieve an accurate and on-time monthly close.
- Design and implement the finance stack, including approvals, procurement, and spend management.
- Automate processes aggressively with AI.
- Build the first budgeting and approval processes for hiring, marketing, conferences, and offices.
- Instil a culture of financial responsibility across all teams.
- Negotiate pricing and contracts with suppliers.
- Steward raised capital, ensuring payroll and vendors are paid and cash is managed safely.
Requirements
- 5+ years in finance at high-growth tech companies (e.g., FP&A lead/head, finance ops, or generalist finance role).
- Deep fluency in accounting, capable of running external accountants for on-time closes.
- Proven track record of implementing scalable finance processes, tooling, and automation.
- Strong modeling skills across budgets, forecasts, P&L, and cash.
- Exceptionally clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience as a first/early finance hire, building a finance function from scratch.
- Experience negotiating vendor contracts and pricing.
- Experience managing cash and liquidity at scale.
- An accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or accounting background.
- Mastery of modern finance stacks (e.g., ERP/accounting, spend management, billing & AR systems).
- Experience leveraging AI across finance functions.
