About the Role
TYLin is seeking an Electrical Engineer specializing in Low Voltage / Building Power systems to join our growing engineering team in New York City. This role focuses on the design and production of electrical systems supporting complex facilities across a wide range of sectors. The position is well suited for an engineer with approximately 8–12 years of experience or a newly licensed Professional Engineer (PE) looking to deepen their technical design expertise and contribute meaningfully to high-quality electrical systems for major infrastructure and civic projects. This is a hands-on design role with a strong emphasis on developing construction drawings, performing electrical calculations, and supporting the delivery of coordinated multidisciplinary designs.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed electrical design for low-voltage building power systems, supporting a variety of complex facility projects.
- Develop electrical layouts, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and distribution system designs for facility power systems.
- Produce and maintain high-quality construction drawings and documentation using industry-standard design tools.
- Perform electrical load calculations, equipment sizing, and system coordination.
- Conduct lighting design and photometric analysis to support functional and energy-efficient facility environments.
- Coordinate electrical systems with architectural, mechanical, and structural disciplines within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Support design reviews and technical documentation preparation throughout project development.
- Participate in site visits, field investigations, and construction support activities as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Approximately 8–12 years of relevant experience designing electrical systems for building or facility environments.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, or close to obtaining licensure.
- Strong experience with low-voltage building power distribution systems.
- Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for electrical design and documentation.
- Experience using AGi32 for lighting calculations and photometric analysis.
- Working knowledge of NEC and applicable electrical design standards.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Experience using Bentley MicroStation OpenBuildings Designer.
- Experience supporting electrical design for large or complex facilities, such as airports, transit facilities, data centers, or institutional buildings.
- Familiarity with public-sector infrastructure projects.
