About the Role

The Senior Development Officer, Major Gifts leads major gift fundraising by cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships with current and prospective donors to secure significant philanthropic investments. The role supports Friends of Ruby’s fundraising goals by expanding the donor pipeline, collaborating across teams, and creating tailored donor engagement strategies that inspire long-term support for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute major gift fundraising strategies to achieve revenue targets and secure 5- and 6-figure gifts.
Manage and grow a portfolio of major donors and prospects through strategic cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
Identify and qualify new donor prospects to expand the major gifts pipeline and support future transformational giving.
Create personalized donor engagement plans that align donor interests with Friends of Ruby’s mission and priorities.
Maintain accurate donor records, prospect research, and fundraising data to support relationship management and informed decision-making.
Collaborate with internal teams, leadership, board members, and community partners to strengthen donor relationships and advance fundraising goals.

Requirements

Proven track record in donor stewardship and major gifts.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CRM programs such as DonorPerfect.
Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Background Check.
Must reside in Ontario.
Must be willing to work onsite hybrid in downtown Toronto.
Must have a flexible schedule to accommodate occasional evenings and weekends.
Ability to travel to other community-based settings as needed.
