About the Role
Assist underwriters with quote activity, renewal costing, and financial audits for new business. Prepare EP3 statements and ASO reconciliations. Support departmental functions, reporting, and client requests. Contribute to departmental strategy and process improvement to meet objectives.
Responsibilities
- Assist underwriters on a regular basis in their quote activity for prospective/new business.
- Support the underwriters on a regular basis in their renewal and alternative plan design costing activities, as well as the audit of key financial factors for newly sold business.
- Preparation of EP3 statements for all applicable clients.
- Preparation of ASO reconciliations and Transfer ASO deposit calculations, in coordination with Accounting.
- Assist in the preparation of the small group “pool” monthly renewals, ensuring proper groups and appropriate rates are applied.
- Assist the Director, Group Underwriting as well as the Manager, Group Underwriting, in performing various on-going departmental functions, as well as various reporting functions, and responses to client requests.
- Assist in developing departmental strategy and improving processes, in order to meet departmental/company objectives.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
- Post-secondary degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or Computer Science or proven analytical and problem solving skills.
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years' work experience in the Group Insurance industry.
- Technically proficient with Microsoft Office, including working knowledge of Excel, Word, etc.
- Bilingual (English-French) is an asset.
- Business Objects knowledge an asset.
- Organizational and time management skills a must.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize and organize workloads efficiently in order to meet deadlines.
- Able to effectively draft a concise, clear proposal, and be able to present the proposal to Sales when required.
- Proficiency in English is required for this position.
- Ability to communicate with colleagues or customers who use English as their primary language.
