About the Role

This role is critical for supporting the growth of CIBC's Global Corporate and Investment Banking (GCIB) business by ensuring technology systems and processes are fit for purpose, scalable, and aligned with business needs. The successful candidate will collaborate with business stakeholders and technology partners to develop and execute a technology roadmap that bridges business requirements with technological capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Execute Global Corporate and Investment Banking’s (‘GCIB’) strategy, aligning technology initiatives to enable GCIB to achieve its mandate, goals, and objectives.
  • Set strategic plans that align with GCIB’s overall vision.
  • Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders to successfully execute initiatives and bring new clients and capabilities to market.
  • Communicate complex concepts clearly and elegantly, collaborating closely with business partners to understand their challenges by asking insightful questions and gathering necessary information.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of business problems to address any questions or concerns raised by partners, ensuring alignment and fostering productive collaboration.
  • Partner with business leaders in corporate and investment banking to identify strategic technology priorities and requirements.
  • Assess existing systems and processes, recommending enhancements to drive efficiency, scalability, and compliance.
  • Partner with technology to develop and maintain a comprehensive technology roadmap aligned to business growth objectives.
  • Champion AI efforts and business adoption.
  • Translate business needs into actionable technology solutions, ensuring timely and effective delivery.
  • Partner with technology to lead or support initiatives to modernize platforms, integrate new technologies, and optimize workflows.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to corporate and investment banking.
  • Ensure technology solutions meet regulatory, risk, and security standards.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy for GCIB, ensuring alignment with global business objectives, regulatory requirements, and evolving market trends.
  • Lead large-scale transformation programs, including digitalization, process re-engineering, and operating model redesign to enhance product offerings and client experience.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and governance of data models and taxonomies to support product management, reporting, analytics, and regulatory compliance.
  • Benchmark and incorporate best practices in product strategy, transformation, and data management from leading global banks.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders across business lines, technology, risk, operations, and data teams to deliver integrated and scalable product solutions.
  • Drive market intelligence, including competitor analysis, customer insights, and regulatory developments, to inform product and transformation strategy.
  • Ensure robust product lifecycle management from ideation through to launch and post-launch optimization, with a focus on data integrity and risk management.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, data-driven decision making, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of product strategists, transformation leaders, and data specialists.
  • Present strategic recommendations, business cases, and transformation progress updates to executive management and relevant governance committees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in corporate & investment banking, with a focus on product strategy, transformation, or innovation.
  • Demonstrated success in leading large-scale transformation and change management initiatives, including data-driven projects, within a global financial institution.
  • Deep expertise in data modeling, taxonomy development, and data governance as applied to banking products and services.
  • Strong knowledge of global banking products, regulatory landscape, and emerging market and technology trends.
  • Proven ability to benchmark and implement best practices from leading global banks.
  • Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and influencing skills at the executive level.
  • Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a track record of data-driven decision making.
  • Experience managing and developing high-performing teams, including product, transformation, and data professionals.
  • Strategic thinker with a strong business and technology acumen.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and adaptable.
  • Results-oriented with a focus on delivering value.
  • Legally eligible to work at the specified location(s).
  • May be asked to complete an attribute-based assessment and other skills tests (e.g., simulation, coding, MS Office).
