About the Role

Join our Oncology lab as a Cellular Biologist III, working hands-on with patient-derived organoids to support research on new cancer treatments. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team on advanced automated platforms for cell biology, contributing to project planning, methodology development, data analysis, and documentation. This role requires strong concentration and attention to detail, and involves leading and mentoring junior staff. Flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, may be required.

Responsibilities

Perform, monitor, and mentor others in automated and manual cell culture and related activities.
Set direction for workflows, serve as technical authority, and resolve complex deviations.
Drive optimization and innovation in cell culture processes.
Exercise expert judgment in designing experimental or production modifications.
Perform high-level troubleshooting of cell culture processes.
Handle and process primary materials like tumor tissues and blood samples.
Culture tissue-derived organoids, fibroblasts, and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).
Perform protocols for organoid derivation, fibroblast expansion, iPSC expansion and QC, and differentiations.
Contribute to molecular, phenotypic, imaging, and in vitro assays, including automated drug screenings.
Design and optimize organoid co-culture protocols to model tumor and tissue microenvironments.
Store and withdraw specimens from liquid nitrogen and freezers.
Prepare media and reagents for daily work.
Work with the laboratory operations team to ensure reagent and consumable supply.
Plan and monitor resources needed for operations and maintain inventory control.
Coordinate space and address inquiries.
Participate in monitoring and tracking of resources and expenditures.
Document results, identify problems, troubleshoot, and analyze variations in testing protocols.
Lead modification, refinement, and adaptation of techniques and procedures.
Partner with engineers and staff to define and implement large-scale improvements.
Provide documentation and feedback through SOP creation/modification, software/automation ticket filing, and leading meetings.
Lead the exchange of information through demonstration and instruction.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Experience with human/mammalian cell culture, 3D culture systems, and iPSC culture.
Broad expertise in cell and molecular biology techniques.
Demonstrated ability to develop and improve biological workflows/processes.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate and perform multiple, concurrent assignments across complex workflows.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and interact professionally with all individuals.
Experience with liquid handling automation is preferred.
