About the Role
The Location Manager oversees daily funeral home operations and provides professional funeral directing services to families, ensuring administrative excellence and compassionate client care.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the funeral home, ensuring high standards of care, cleanliness, and professionalism
- Supervise and support staff, including funeral assistants, administrative personnel, and part-time help
- Coordinate scheduling for services, removals, embalmings, cremations, and viewings
- Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, OSHA, and industry best practices
- Monitor and manage inventory, ordering supplies and materials as needed
- Maintain funeral home licensure, facility records, and OSHA documentation
- Collaborate with regional leadership to meet performance, budget, and customer service goals
- Meet with families to make funeral and cremation arrangements, guiding them with empathy and professionalism
- Prepare and file necessary paperwork, including death certificates, permits, and authorizations
- Coordinate with cemeteries, clergy, and other service providers to ensure seamless service delivery
- Direct and attend services, ensuring all aspects run smoothly and respectfully
- Embalm, dress, casket, and prepare decedents for viewing, if licensed and as needed
- Provide aftercare and support to families, including follow-up communications
Requirements
- Current Funeral Director license in the state where duties are performed
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in funeral service
- At least 1 year in a leadership or management role
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws governing funeral service
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and be on-call as needed
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds
- Ability to work in varied environmental conditions
