About the Role

The Loren Hotel is seeking a Cafe Server to provide luxury service, prepare and serve drinks, and accommodate guest needs during Moody Tongue service hours. This role is crucial for maintaining the hotel's high standards of hospitality and guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Greet and take food and drink orders from guests.
• Serve orders and accommodate special needs/requests.
• Remain attentive to customers, adhering to or exceeding service standards.
• Complete restocking and cleaning duties, including opening and closing side work.
• Memorize menu items, recipes, and daily specials to answer questions and make recommendations.
• Maintain cleanliness standards in the pool deck, wait station, and kitchen service area.
• Control guest checks by following established procedures and documenting information.
• Receive proper payment from guests and ensure accuracy of checks and payment methods.
• Attend pre-meal and departmental meetings.
• Respond to customer inquiries and comments.
• Present a clean and professional appearance.
• Maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor.
• Perform other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by leadership.

Requirements

• High school or equivalent education.
• TABC Certification.
• Food Handler Certification.
• 1+ year of restaurant service experience.
• Hotel luxury experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of customer service principles, food server functions, and restaurant/kitchen operations.
• Knowledge of standard cash-handling procedures.
• Fluent in oral and written English.
• Vision ability to clearly see detailed guest checks, computer printouts, written instructions, and observe the entire restaurant in dimly lit conditions.
• Manual coordination to punch buttons, grasp items, and balance/carry trays.
• Highly organized and able to pay attention to minute written and verbal details, especially when performing multiple tasks.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, and finger items.
• Full range of mobility and ability to travel up to 300 feet regularly.
• Ability to stand continuously during preparation and service hours.
• Moderate hearing to hear customers, supervisors, and communicate with staff.
• Excellent vision to see that product is prepared appropriately.
• Moderate comprehension and literacy to read records and special requests.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Ability to use tact and understanding when dealing with customer service problems, including stressful situations.
