About the Role
The Automation Sales Engineer is a customer-facing outside role focused on growing sales with existing and new customers, and strengthening relationships with represented manufacturers. This role requires a blend of commercial and technical expertise, with a focus on robotics, machine vision, safety, motion control, sensing, machine control, and data/visualization to foster long-term, profitable customer relationships.
Responsibilities
- Proactive planning and execution of sales calls/customer visits
- Conduct 12-15 face-to-face (zoom or in-person) customer interactions per week
- Pre-call planning
- Product demonstrations
- Identification of customer needs
- Product selection
- Project scope definition and expectation setting
- Customer visits and strategic account planning with partner manufacturer sales engineers
- Maintain an accurate forecast of business potentials
- Engage in formal and self-guided product training
- Determine product compatibility
- Quote generation and sales process documentation
- Territory planning and overall business strategy planning
Requirements
- 3-5 years in a technical sales role
- 3-5 years in a technical, engineering role considered
