About the Role
The Marketing Counsel is a high-impact role responsible for guiding SDF's global messaging and brand strategy. You will partner with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Product, and Legal to ensure external communications, campaigns, and product launches align with regulatory, reputational, and mission-driven priorities. This role involves managing legal risks for public-facing assets, brand protection, and commercial agreements in a fast-paced blockchain environment.
Responsibilities
- Own legal review for outward-facing marketing and communications materials across all channels.
- Advise stakeholders on public-facing content, campaign strategy, product messaging, and external positioning.
- Identify and mitigate legal, regulatory, reputational, and consumer protection risks.
- Provide end-to-end legal support for marketing aspects of strategic business deals.
- Serve as a legal partner to Marketing leadership on strategy and cross-functional initiatives.
- Support event strategy, including vendor contracts, sponsorships, and operational issues.
- Manage brand and IP functions, including trademark portfolios and brand protection.
- Review product-related launch materials and announcements for legal sensitivity.
- Develop and maintain legal processes, templates, and training workflows.
- Draft and negotiate marketing, advertising, SaaS, and partnership agreements.
Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
- At least 3 years of relevant law firm or in-house legal experience.
- Working knowledge of laws related to advertising, consumer protection, privacy, and IP.
- Ability to assess legal and regulatory risks in public-facing materials.
- Strong drafting, editing, and written communication skills.
- Sound business judgment with the ability to provide clear, risk-calibrated advice.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize time-sensitive projects.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
