About the Role
The Associate, in cooperation with Relationship Managers/Bankers, will service the banking and financing needs of internationally oriented Mid-Market clients, deepen existing client relationships, and acquire and onboard new commercial banking clients.
Responsibilities
- Build relationships with Citi network and operational teams, becoming a key contact for client requests, internal requests, and issue resolution.
- Support Bankers in coverage and management of their assigned client portfolios.
- Work closely with Senior Relationship Managers to ensure a 'Client First' approach and deliver outstanding day-to-day banking and operational support.
- Call on clients with Senior Relationship Managers to maximize the ‘One Citi’ client experience by proactively leveraging Citi’s insights, network, and solutions.
- Monitor and oversee product implementation and credit onboarding processes, and manage the sales CRM platform.
- Liaise with Relationship Associates to ensure adherence to global KYC standards during onboarding and ongoing compliance.
- Develop and maintain strong ties with global Commercial Banking teams, including CCB colleagues in the same sector and those supporting overseas subsidiary businesses.
- Collaborate with various product teams (cash sales, trade finance, markets, corporate finance), Underwriting, and Risk teams.
- Assist Senior Relationship Managers with client relationship analysis, risk/opportunity assessment, credit application write-up, financial spreading, deal structuring, returns calculation, and documentation review/preparation.
- Co-manage credit relationships with clients, ensuring adherence to policies and institutional processes.
- Understand key commercial banking products, processes, and solutions, including Transaction Banking, FX, Trade, Liquidity & Treasury, Working Capital, and Lending products.
- Support Senior Relationship Managers on solutioning assessment, pitch book preparation, meeting material assistance, and new client acquisition.
- Work collaboratively with key internal stakeholders across CCB and share best practices to deliver best-in-class relationship management.
- Assess risk appropriately, demonstrate consideration for the firm's reputation, and safeguard Citigroup, its clients, and assets by driving compliance, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment, and reporting control issues transparently.
Requirements
- 3+ years of relevant experience, preferably in a Client Relationship or client-facing role.
- Prior experience within Commercial/Corporate banking is desirable.
- Fluency in both French and English, with the ability to communicate confidently with clients and colleagues in both languages.
- Strong sales, presentation, and communication skills with a client-focus mindset.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and credit skills.
- Knowledge of general banking processes and a general understanding of commercial banking solutions.
- Ability to build and develop strong client relationships.
- Effective collaboration skills with Senior Relationship Managers and Commercial Banking partners.
- Proficiency with Microsoft-based applications.
- Experience using CRM applications.
- English-language (written and oral) fluency required for collaboration with global stakeholders.
