About the Role

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining the safe, reliable, and operational condition of company vessels in accordance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations and company standards. Every member of our engineering department plays a critical role in ensuring our vessels are ready to safely serve thousands of passengers every day.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on diesel engines, reduction gears, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, sanitary, propulsion, steering, and auxiliary systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical failures, identify root causes, and perform safe, effective, and lasting repairs.
  • Plan maintenance projects, order materials and replacement parts, and coordinate repairs to minimize vessel downtime.
  • Complete vessel condition surveys, inspections, maintenance records, and work documentation accurately and on time.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas aboard vessels, within company facilities, and in maintenance shops.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow engineers, captains, operations personnel, vendors, and management to ensure timely completion of maintenance activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance practices, and operational efficiency.
  • Respond to scheduled and emergency maintenance needs as required to support fleet operations.
  • Promote and demonstrate an unwavering commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance, and exceptional customer service.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a marine engineer within the small passenger vessel industry or equivalent field.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience maintaining diesel engines, marine electrical systems, hydraulics, pumps, propulsion equipment, and auxiliary machinery is preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems using technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid unrestricted driver's license with a clean driving record for the past five (5) years.
  • Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), or the ability to obtain one.
