About the Role

Hammersmith & Fulham is seeking an exceptional leader as the Head of Asset Management & Compliance to improve outcomes for residents and lead a high-profile service within the Housing and Neighbourhoods department. This role is pivotal in reforming the council and ensuring high-quality housing services. The successful candidate will lead an asset management team, oversee stock condition surveys, decent home projections, investment opportunities, and efficiency analysis to deliver the LBHF asset management strategy. Collaboration with internal and external providers is key to ensuring homes are well-maintained and contracts perform strongly. The role requires strategic thinking, credible leadership, the ability to lead through change, build strong relationships, and foster a culture of accountability, performance, and resident satisfaction. Experience in delivering asset management in a complex housing environment, strong commercial, financial, and contract management skills, and a clear understanding of the legislative and regulatory context for housing repairs and asset services are essential. The role also involves shaping services that reflect resident priorities, supporting sustainability and value for money ambitions, and contributing to the council's goal of being the best in the country.

Responsibilities

  • Lead an asset management team delivering on stock condition surveys, decent home projections, investment opportunities and efficiency analysis including appropriate forecasting.
  • Work across internal and external providers to ensure homes are well maintained, investment is targeted effectively, and contracts perform strongly.
  • Lead through change, build strong relationships with Members, residents, contractors and partners.
  • Create a culture that is focused on accountability, performance and resident satisfaction.
  • Shape services that reflect resident priorities.
  • Support wider ambitions around sustainability and value for money.
  • Contribute to a council that is striving to be the best in the country.

Requirements

  • Experience of delivering asset management in a complex housing environment.
  • Strong commercial, financial and contract management skills.
  • Clear understanding of the legislative and regulatory context for housing repairs and asset services.
  • Willingness to work towards Chartered Institute of Housing Qualification (Level 5 or above) or appropriate work and technical experience.
  • Degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field.
