About the Role

This role involves independent work within a commissioning team, focusing on delivering high-quality service through customer experience, on-site operations, and adherence to performance standards. The position supports family-centered care principles and requires a commitment to customer service.

Responsibilities

• Independently responsible for data collection, beam model configuration, beam model validation, and report writing for linear accelerator and treatment planning system commissioning.
• Lead each commissioning job, ensuring completion of the scope of work to the satisfaction of all parties.
• Responsible for project planning, preparation, and follow-up for commissioning jobs, including customer communication and coordination with installation and field service teams.
• Customize report and analysis templates and remotely access customer treatment planning systems for preliminary configuration.
• Compile and submit commissioning reports to customers upon completion of onsite work, assisting customers in navigating the report content.
• Utilize clinical expertise to participate in process and software tool improvement initiatives and research and development projects.
• Participate in the creation, critical review, and adherence to procedure manuals.
• Maintain expertise by staying current with the latest developments in research and practice guidelines in commissioning.
• May be assigned to assist other teams for specific tasks, such as annual QA or technology adoption consulting, as schedules permit.
• Lead the team on customer site for commissioning.
• Assist or perform water phantom setup and alignment for data collection.
• Perform commissioning tasks including data collection and analysis using IBA water phantom system.
• Perform TPS modeling and validation.
• Utilize multiple vendor dosimetry QA equipment and software to collect and analyze measurement data.
• Operate Varian Treatment, TPS, and EMR systems.
• Write commissioning reports and communicate them to customer physicists.
• Provide clinical expertise in understanding and meeting specific customer needs.
• Participate in process improvement tasks and software development.
• May provide on-site or remote physics support at other sites.
• May provide annual and/or monthly QA in support of clinical sites.
• Supervise the training of Medical Physics Residents assigned to shadow a commissioning job.
• Approximately 65% of job duties will be at various customer sites, requiring travel as the commissioning schedule demands.

Requirements

• Must have full access to Siemens Healthineers' client sites.
• Must meet all Vendor Credentialing requirements necessary for full client access.
• Must be able to work with controlled technology in accordance with US export control law.

Skills

• Fluency in the operation of the linear accelerator, scanning and other measuring devices, treatment planning system, and record and verify system.
• Clinical expertise.
