About the Role

The University Access Officer will work across up to four partner schools, collaborating with school staff, volunteer tutors, coaches, and the wider Access Project team to optimize program delivery. This role is crucial in supporting students from under-resourced backgrounds to access top universities.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with students, mentoring in an impactful, professional, and safe manner.
  • Engage with school staff, Programme Manager, and students to ensure fully enrolled cohorts across all programs.
  • Coordinate program delivery across allocated schools, acting as the sole on-site representative.
  • Assess student progress towards successful university applications.
  • Upload information onto the Salesforce database in a timely manner.
  • Work proactively with school staff to ensure cooperation and timely completion of activities.
  • Present program progress at termly school meetings with Senior Management.
  • Support the wider team by attending university site visits on occasional Saturdays and weekday evenings.
  • Undertake any other responsibilities reasonably deemed necessary by The Access Project’s Programme Managers or Director.
  • Match students for 1:1 tuition with volunteer tutors.
  • Monitor student attendance to 1:1 tuition and/or coaching sessions and devise innovative solutions to encourage attendance.
  • Manage volunteer tutor attendance to tutorials through weekly monitoring systems.
  • Monitor the impact of tutorials and intervene as appropriate.
  • Build and manage relationships with volunteer tutors to ensure a positive program experience.
  • Manage students’ relationships with volunteer tutors through monitoring of systems, emailing, and phone calls.
  • Work collaboratively with the Tuition & Coaching team to escalate attendance issues with students and schools.
  • Coordinate the effective delivery of coaching and group tuition offers.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable skills in mentoring groups of students and 1:1.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to deliver multiple programs and projects at pace and manage administration accurately.
  • Able to communicate and influence impactfully at all levels.
  • Resilient and adaptable.
  • Able to work towards and meet deadlines with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Able to effectively time manage and actively prioritize.
  • Able to work independently in busy school environments, with an ownership mindset.
  • Skilled in building and maintaining excellent relationships with young people and school staff/leaders.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to take action to keep young people safe and raise concerns.
  • Experience of working in a multi-site environment is desirable.
  • Must disclose anything listed in their criminal record, with the exception of protected cautions and convictions, as the role involves working with children and young people.
  • Will be subject to a DBS check.

  • £29,227.50 per annum including London Weighting
