About the Role

Cardless seeks a Manager of Partner Growth to own the full portfolio of live brand partners, ensuring their card programs function optimally, grow, and provide a seamless experience. This role involves managing relationships post-signature, proactively identifying issues, and driving expansion within existing accounts. The individual will act as the internal liaison, coordinating across product, support, and operations to ensure partners receive prompt and accurate assistance. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor position reporting to the Chief Business Officer, focused on portfolio retention, issue resolution, and account growth.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for every partner in your portfolio, building trust and strong relationships.
  • Understand each partner's business, goals, internal dynamics, and definition of success.
  • Build relationships with both day-to-day operators and executives at partner companies.
  • Represent Cardless internally as the voice of the partner, ensuring product, support, and leadership understand account needs.
  • Track the performance of every program in your portfolio, including activation, spend, and retention.
  • Identify and pitch expansion opportunities within existing accounts, such as new features, segments, or use cases.
  • Provide partners with insights on program performance compared to industry possibilities, using data from the broader Cardless portfolio.
  • Collaborate with product and business teams to align roadmap priorities with the needs of live partners.
  • Act as the first point of contact for issues like outages, compliance questions, or partner complaints, and own their resolution.
  • Build internal relationships and judgment to quickly involve the right teams (product, support, engineering, compliance) and manage issues to closure.
  • Distinguish between urgent issues and day-to-day friction, prioritizing effectively.
  • Communicate transparently with partners about issues, resolutions, and next steps.
  • Run regular business reviews with each partner, supported by performance data and strategic outlooks.
  • Maintain an accurate view of account health across the portfolio, flagging risks early.
  • Maintain systems such as CRM, account plans, and escalation logs for repeatable and scalable account management.
  • Provide regular reporting to leadership on portfolio health, growth opportunities, and operational issues.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years in business development, partnerships, sales, or an account management role.
  • Meaningful exposure to financial services, ideally including time at a bank, card issuer, or payment network.
  • Demonstrated track record of cultivating and growing major enterprise partnerships by adding significant milestones, processes, and revenue.
  • Payments expertise, with working knowledge of schemes, payments risk and fraud, and other payment basics.
  • Ability to maintain deepening relationships over years.
  • Credible commercial conversation skills with partner finance or operations leadership.
  • Operational discipline to manage a clean portfolio and ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Effective communication and presence with senior partner executives, including delivering hard news and defusing escalations.
  • Ability to write effectively.
  • Skill in cross-functional orchestration, understanding internal team dynamics to resolve partner issues quickly.
  • Strong judgment and autonomy to prioritize time across a portfolio and make good calls without constant management.
  • Experience in making existing customers successful.
  • Meaningful experience in financial services is required; general enterprise sales or account management without exposure to banking, cards, or payments is insufficient.
