About the Role
Leidos is seeking a Distribution Engineering Supervisor in Oahu, Hawaii, passionate about electric utility design engineering. The role involves ensuring exceptional quality on all projects, working with utility clients, and leading a team to support one of the nation's most unique electric utility systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 5-8 engineers to develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems (4kV-138kV).
- Support programmatic work including overloaded transformers, inspection and maintenance, joint use, and inspection reports.
- Manage project work such as grid hardening, reliability, substation optimization, joint use make ready, and street light projects.
- Develop work packages using GIS, CAD, WMS, and other client systems.
- Oversee day-to-day assignments for direct reports.
- Provide technical leadership for engineers/designers in developing construction work packages, including engineering calculations and constructability concerns.
- Train junior engineers and designers.
- Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to maintain project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Train entry-level designers and technicians.
- Oversee the onboarding and performance of direct reports.
- Review client work and assess scope requirements.
- Communicate work progress, technical issues, and schedule with the client.
- Comply with Leidos and client safety requirements, design, and quality expectations.
- Develop permitting documents for various Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
- Coordinate with permit agencies, right-of-way specialists, system owners, field leaders, forestry leaders, and third-party owners for joint-owned poles.
- Travel to sites and customer meetings as needed.
- Perform engineering calculations (e.g., structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying, conductor sags/tensions, voltage drop/flicker).
- Conduct QA/QC reviews of work by other engineers for client submittal.
- Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews.
- Conduct root cause analysis of outages and develop mitigation strategies.
Requirements
- 4+ years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience with NESC Standards, MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, and Bluebeam and/or Adobe.
- Proven successful experience in designing distribution systems for OH, UG, or URD environments.
- Experience with distribution design tools such as O-Calc and SAG10.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to review other engineer designs and identify errors.
- Experience monitoring scopes and tracking others' work progress.
- Willingness to perform both field and office work.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments.
- Ability to utilize personal vehicle.

Salary/Compensations
- $73,450.00 - $132,775.00
