Responsibilities
- Prepares and serves meals according to menus and therapeutic diet guidelines.
- Maintains food quality, sanitation standards, and timely service while supporting kitchen operations in a long-term care setting.
- Prepare and cook meals following menus, recipes, and dietary requirements.
- Ensure proper portioning, presentation, and meal accuracy.
- Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely.
- Monitor food temperatures and maintain required records.
- Maintain sanitation, cleanliness, and food safety standards.
- Store, label, and manage food and supplies properly.
- Assist with meal service and respond to resident needs.
- Support kitchen operations in absence of the Head Chef.
Requirements
- Previous cooking or food service experience preferred.
- Ability to read, follow recipes, and perform basic math.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices preferred.
- Strong time management and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Exposure to kitchen heat and cold storage environments.
