About the Role

Lead the selection, implementation, and optimization of a new finance system to support organizational growth and efficient financial operations. This role is crucial for shaping how Finance operates within a leading health research program.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the finance workstream for the implementation of a new finance system from selection through to successful go-live.
  • Collaborate with Finance, IT, People & Culture, Business Development, and external implementation partners.
  • Gather and translate business requirements into functional system requirements.
  • Support system selection, procurement activities, and implementation partner appointments.
  • Present recommendations, risks, and progress updates to senior leaders and project governance groups.
  • Oversee data cleansing, mapping, and migration to ensure financial data integrity.
  • Support configuration reviews, user acceptance testing, and go-live activities.
  • Design efficient finance processes, workflows, and internal controls within the new system.
  • Improve financial reporting capabilities and identify opportunities for automation and continuous improvement.
  • Support integration between the finance system and other business systems, including HR and CRM platforms.
  • Lead finance readiness activities, deliver training, and support colleagues through the transition to new ways of working.
  • Produce user documentation and support ongoing system adoption.

Requirements

  • A recognised accounting qualification (CCAB or equivalent).
  • Significant experience leading finance system implementation or finance transformation projects.
  • Experience implementing integrations between finance systems and other organisational software.
  • Strong knowledge of finance processes, financial controls, and accounting principles.
  • Experience improving finance processes through automation or systems enhancement.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
