About the Role
The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education is seeking to fill a Vice-Principal position to support approximately 12,000 students in 38 schools. Responsibilities
- Assist the Principal in maintaining a positive, safe, and respectful learning and working environment for all stakeholders.
- Assist the Principal in establishing a school-wide vision focused on high standards and academic success.
- Provide leadership, cultivate leadership in others, and manage people, data, and processes.
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, community, and outside agencies to meet student needs.
- Complete required documents as requested by the Centre and/or the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
- Assist the Principal in identifying staffing needs and selecting staff.
- Assist the Principal in ensuring full and regular student attendance.
- Assist the Principal with supervising school-based staff, including attendance management, performance management, and addressing personnel matters.
- Support professional growth through professional development planning and ongoing feedback.
- Ensure appropriate evaluation techniques are used for both students and staff.
- Monitor systems for organizational tasks such as student records, teacher records, attendance, purchasing, budgets, and timetables.
- Ensure the safety and security of the school.
- Ensure the maintenance of financial records and compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Support the implementation of all school, Regional Education Centre, and Department of Education Early Childhood Development Policies and Procedures.
- Perform any duty of a principal assigned by senior staff or prescribed by the Education Act and regulations.
Requirements

- A valid Nova Scotia teacher's license is required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience in a public school is required.
- Demonstrated ability to discharge the duties of a principal as set out in Section 38 of the Education Act.

Experience Level
- Minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience in a public school required.
- Previous administrative experience will be given preference.
- Demonstrated successful instructional leadership (administrative and/or teaching) in the level(s) to which you are applying is preferred.
Education Level
- A Masters of Education Degree in Instructional/Educational Leadership or a Master's level degree with equivalent leadership education is preferred.
Salary/Compensations
- $97,513 to $121,891
