About the Role
Madewell is seeking an Associate Designer for jewelry and Soft Accessories to conceptualize and design seasonal collections. This role involves trend research, creating presentation boards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure product accuracy and design vision from concept to store.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with your manager to formulate concepts and select color stories for each season.
- Design product categories including jewelry, scarves, socks, sunglasses, hats, and seasonal items.
- Prepare professional presentation boards with illustrations, CAD artwork, fabrication, materials, and samples.
- Research seasonal trends, themes, color, raw materials, and styling for specified classifications.
- Execute seasonal line lists and meet product development calendar deadlines.
- Work with Technical Design, Production, and Merchandising teams to ensure accuracy of specs, quality, and design vision.
- Conduct fittings with the Designer.
- Create colorways of print and pattern using CAD.
Requirements
- 2-4 years of design experience, including accessories experience.
- Apparel, or Product Design degree.
- High taste level and creative ability.
- Strong color sense.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Team player.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Ability to adhere to deadlines and calendars.
- Good follow-through, proactive.
- Knowledge of garment construction and fabric/trim.
- Strong illustration skills and sketching ability.
- Knowledge of lab dips.
- Expert in Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Word and Excel.
- BA in Design.
