About the Role

Unity's Advertiser Growth team uses AI and statistical optimization to maximize advertiser returns on the Unity ad network. This role will lead the design of core optimization algorithms, bridging advanced quantitative methodology with large-scale engineering for real-time production systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and ship multi-objective campaign optimization algorithms considering advertiser goals and constraints.
  • Develop exploration-exploitation strategies using methods like bandits or reinforcement learning.
  • Create efficient methodologies to measure the long-term impact of model and product changes.
  • Define metrics frameworks for guiding launch decisions based on model improvements and business results.
  • Build LLM agent systems to automate campaign diagnostics and setup recommendations.
  • Serve as a lead subject matter expert for ML, Product, and Engineering partners, ensuring quantitative rigor.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in machine learning, data science, or applied research, ideally within ad tech, marketplaces, or large-scale optimization domains.
  • MS or PhD in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, or equivalent).
  • Quantitative depth: Ability to design algorithms for competing goals, exploration-exploitation strategies, long-term impact measurement, and metrics frameworks.
  • Agentic system experience: Hands-on experience building LLM-based agentic systems for diagnostics, recommendations, or workflow automation.
  • Technical proficiency: Strong programming skills in Python or Scala, and experience with large-scale data processing frameworks (Spark, Snowflake, or BigQuery).
  • Production track record: History of shipping ML systems on high-volume, real-time data with measurable business impact.
  • Strategic leadership: Ability to translate complex quantitative concepts into clear product roadmaps and mentor engineers.
