About the Role

This role supports the mission of the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) by administering the nation’s lawful immigration system. As a Biometric Technician (BT), you will be part of a dynamic team assisting with Application Support Center (ASC) operations in Buffalo, NY. Amentum provides all required job training.

Responsibilities

  • Complete biometrics registration for applicants seeking legal immigration to the United States.
  • Ensure all who enter the ASC are approved applicants and visitors.
  • Provide interior and exterior crowd control.
  • Assist staff in enforcing ASC rules and policies.
  • Provide front-line customer service as representatives of Amentum and the United States Government.
  • Safeguard all areas where Personal Identifiable Information (PII) is vulnerable.
  • Perform quality biometrics processing, including capturing electronic fingerprints, photographs, and signatures within established program-wide processing times.
  • Screen applicants entering the facility to ensure they have a valid appointment notice and identification.
  • Utilize crowd control barriers to ensure a safe and organized entry into the facility.
  • Visually inspect applicants and their belongings prior to allowing entry.
  • Conduct periodic facility checks (interior and exterior) and report concerns to the Site Supervisor.
  • Assist the Site Supervisor and/or government Immigration Service Officer in calling local law enforcement or first responders when necessary.
  • Manage and complete administrative paperwork accurately, including tracking processing times, reconciliation of biometrics captured, maintaining a visitor control log, signing off on facility checks, and other administrative duties.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to speak and write in English.
  • Ability to stand upright for scheduled shift duration, excluding meals and breaks.
  • Ability to hold and grasp applicant’s hands to obtain quality fingerprints.
  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment with the public.
  • Ability to type and use basic computer skills.
  • Successful completion of the biometrics training and become certified within sixty days.
