About the Role

Canadian Hearing Services (CHS) is seeking a Hearing Care Counsellor in Toronto to provide individual counselling, support, and case management for eligible clients aged 55 and older who are hard of hearing or deaf.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counselling, support, and case management for eligible Hearing Care Counselling (HCC) clients (age 55 and up and hard of hearing or deaf).
  • Evaluate hearing loss utilizing audio scope and audiometer testing devices.
  • Provide general instruction to clients in the use, care, and maintenance of hearing aids and assistive listening devices.
  • Liaise and consult with other counsellors, agencies, and services to promote client independence and empowerment.
  • Enhance daily functioning, safety, and social access for clients with acquired hearing loss.
  • Handle vulnerable situations in a timely manner.
  • Manage a varied workload with competing priorities and deadlines.

Requirements

  • Must be legally eligible for employment in Canada.
  • Vaccines (COVID and others) are a requirement of the job unless an exemption is provided on medical grounds pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
