About the Role
As a Licensed Vocational Nurse, your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of clinical and operational tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication. You will support healthcare providers and patients, and assist Operations leadership with day-to-day support of onsite health clinics, including client communication and coordination of clinical supplies and lab services. Responsibilities
- Welcome patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries.
- Prepare patients for healthcare visits by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes; helping them to position themselves for examination and/or treatment; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Verify patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment.
- Adhere to safety and infection control protocols.
- Support patient care delivery by helping healthcare providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; administering medications; authorizing drug refills as directed; drawing blood; preparing patients for x-rays; taking electrocardiograms; removing sutures; changing dressings.
- Conduct occupational health tests, including Audiometry, Spirometry, and fit testing.
- Assist in the training of new staff members in conducting occupational health tests.
- Assist providers with workers' compensation injuries, administer first aid, and conduct drug screening and alcohol collection.
- Maintain accurate records of all collections.
- Assist in the coordination of patient care, management of referrals, scheduling appointments, and coordinating services with other healthcare providers.
- Communicate with clients to service needs and requests.
- Assist with the investigation and resolution of complaints.
- Communicate test results to patients and healthcare providers as directed.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and proper storage of PHI.
- Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
- Coordinate clinic logistics and equipment setup and breakdown at various work sites.
- Travel to different work sites as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating motivation, reliability, organization, and punctuality.
Requirements
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification.
- Valid and current Vocational Nurse license in the state of practice.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Good dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
- Good visual acuity.
- Ability to bend, kneel, and reach.
- Excellent mobility.
- Comfort working in confined spaces.
- Must have reliable transportation.
