About the Role

This role is part of the Short Term Portfolio Management Academy in Berlin, offering exposure to renewables and gas portfolio management and systematic short term power trading. It's an ideal opportunity for career development in commodities trading, involving managing portfolio deviations, optimizing renewable sites, and contributing to automated trading systems. The role also includes exposure to the European natural gas portfolio and requires shift work, including weekends, bank holidays, and nights.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake a bespoke Short Term Portfolio Management training program.
  • Optimize portfolios and execute trades by working with supply and demand fundamentals.
  • Monitor profit and loss.
  • Manage market and operational risks in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Undertake regular project work based on skills and interests (analytical, quantitative, operational, or commercial) when off shift.

Requirements

  • Commercially minded and operationally diligent.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken).
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, coding in Python.
  • A University degree in Engineering, Mathematics or another quantitative subject.
  • Analytical and highly numerate approach, with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and thorough understanding of European power and / or gas markets.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • A proactive, pragmatic problem solver with a strong bias for action.
  • A positive and team-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced trading environment.
