About the Role
Provide legal advice to the Power Authority's Trustees, senior management, and all business units, focusing on the Real Estate division. This role involves handling all aspects of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, operation, and maintenance of real estate interests. Collaborate internally on special projects and externally to manage real estate transactions.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and counsel on matters and transactions as directed by an Assistant General Counsel.
- Research legal changes, identify potential impacts on business operations, and recommend actions.
- Conduct legal analysis of complex issues.
- Draft transaction documents, governance documents, compliance programs, legal opinions, and briefs.
- Present legal analysis and potential impacts to senior management.
- Attend meetings with clients and provide legal support.
- Independently handle routine matters, cases, and transactions.
- Collaborate with clients to maintain and implement legal strategies.
- Serve on committees and task forces in a legal advisory capacity.
- Manage outside counsel, develop strategies, and monitor billing.
- Report on major developments to an Assistant General Counsel.
Requirements
- Ability to provide timely responses and guidance on complex legal issues without extensive legal research.
- Ability to draft transaction documents, legal opinions, and briefs with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain professional, courteous, and positive relations with clients.
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex transactions and cases independently.
- Good transaction and case management skills.

- Deep experience and knowledge of the Authority’s structure and policies.
