About the Role

Seeking a Freelance English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Tutor to provide English as an Additional Language (EAL) support for undergraduate and postgraduate students at London Contemporary Dance School. The role involves targeted academic language support through group and one-to-one tutorials to enhance students' communication and study skills within a specialist dance training environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver English for academic purposes support for undergraduate and postgraduate students through individual and group tutorials that supports a specialist dance environment.
  • Develop and deliver pre-sessional and in-sessional EAP provision, both online and in person.
  • Support students in developing academic English, communication skills and discipline-specific language.
  • Assess students' English language needs using appropriate diagnostic methods and tailor support accordingly.
  • Contribute to Welcome Week activities for international students where required.
  • Liaise with the Learning Support Coordinator and academic staff to ensure support aligns with course requirements.
  • Report student engagement through up to date and accurate records.

Requirements

  • Experience delivering English as an Additional Language support in higher education or a similar setting.
  • Experience planning and delivering workshops and one-to-one tutorials.
  • Strong understanding of academic English and language development.
  • Experience supporting international students in UK higher education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Up to date knowledge of EAP and inclusive teaching practice.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently while liaising effectively with colleagues.
