Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe environment at the Boat Dock and Lake for all guests.
  • Rent boats and fishing equipment to guests.
  • Answer guest questions.
  • Operate cash register and handle vouchers.
  • Process payments and implement data into a software program using a PC.
  • Maintain a clean Boat Dock and ensure boats are in working order.
  • Complete and record daily sanitation protocols.
  • Maintain fishing equipment, including making basic repairs.
  • Handle, package, and sell bait.
  • Assist guests with baiting fishing hooks and handling fish.
  • Fill out Boat Dock Allocation Chart and process room charges.
  • Empty trash and maintain a neat work environment.
  • Fill out cash summary accurately at the end of the shift and turn in money and vouchers.
  • Assist guests in and out of boats.
  • Explain boat rental rules and regulations clearly to guests.
  • Rescue victims of overturned boats in a timely manner.
  • Remain calm and collected in emergency situations.
  • Demonstrate a friendly, outgoing personality and be available to guests.
  • Row a boat quickly.
  • Manipulate personal floatation devices (PFDs) and Shepard’s crook.
  • Identify safety hazards and inspect the work of others, ensuring hazards are corrected.
  • Analyze problems and develop and implement action plans.
  • Demonstrate patience with children and adults.
  • Learn and maintain familiarity with various watercraft.
  • Work in a manner that will not endanger self or others.
  • Work in other areas of Activities, such as Bike Shop, Kids’ Club, Information, Tennis, Campfires, and special events.
  • Present a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
  • Work flexible or changing days and hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and occasionally up to 14 hours per shift.

Requirements

  • Experience or potential in a people-oriented job preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • At least 21 years of age, or 20 years of age with at least two years of licensed driving experience.
  • CPR/First Aid certification strongly preferred.
  • Ability to see close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjust focus.
  • Ability to speak clearly to groups of 1-30 people.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write the English language and communicate clearly and congenially.
  • Ability to hear verbal instructions and give warnings.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms, bend, kneel, stoop, twist and flex arms, walk up and down stairs/inclines, sit, climb up/down ladders or stand for up to 5 hours at a time.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds from ground level to waist level and carry a distance of up to 75 feet with or without assistance.
  • Ability to walk up to 10 miles per day.
  • Ability to handle adversity, change or emergency situations calmly.
  • Comfortableness with lake ecology, including snakes, frogs, turtles, and fish.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of nature and the outdoors.
