About the Role
As a Senior Research Engineer at Thomson Reuters Labs, you will be part of a global interdisciplinary team of experts driving the company’s digital transformation. You will bring expertise in AI and ML to build data-driven capabilities that transform how legal, accounting, and government professionals work globally. You will have a direct impact on the company by developing products and features that delight customers.
Responsibilities
- Develop and Deliver: Apply modern software development practices throughout the entire software development lifecycle, building, testing, and delivering high-quality solutions.
- Build Scalable ML Solutions: Create large-scale data processing pipelines to aid researchers in building and training novel machine learning algorithms. Develop high-performing, scalable systems for large online delivery environments.
- Be a Team Player: Collaborate within a team-oriented environment, sharing information, valuing diverse ideas, and partnering with cross-functional and remote teams.
- Be an Agile Person: Deliver timely solutions with a strong sense of urgency in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Be Innovative: Try new approaches, learn new technologies, contribute innovative ideas, create solutions, and be accountable for end-to-end deliveries.

Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Related Field, or Equivalent Experience
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
- At least 2 years working on a Machine Learning related product or solution.
- A deep understanding of Python software development stacks and ecosystems.
- Ability to write clean, reusable, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Track record of quickly adopting and applying emerging technologies to solve complex problems.
- Experience collaborating with applied data scientists to translate research work into production-ready solutions.
- A keen interest in real-world applications and impact.
- Experience with cloud computing development.
- Experience with Agile Methodologies.
- Experience implementing CI/CD, DevOps, and SDLC concepts in application delivery.
- Experience integrating Machine Learning and Generative AI solutions into production-grade software.
- Understanding of ModelOps and MLOps principles.
- Exposure to Natural Language Processing (NLP) problems and familiarity with key tasks such as Named Entity Recognition (NER), Information Extraction, Information Retrieval, Text classification, Summarization, etc.
- Ability to understand and translate between language and methodologies used in both research and engineering fields.
- Hands-on experience in other programming language/scripting language and development stack (Java, Rust, Scala, Typescript, etc.).

- USD $127,000 - $235,000 (NYC, SF, LA, Irvine, McLean, DC)
- USD $110,000 - $204,200 (Other US locations)
- CAD $100,000 - $145,000 (Ontario, Canada)
