About the Role
This casual role within the Mater Maternity Team provides support to Nursing and Midwifery staff in delivering basic care to mothers and newborns. You will report directly to the Registered Nurse/Midwife and integrate into the midwifery, nursing, and multidisciplinary team, primarily working overnight in the Well Baby Nursery.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to Nursing and Midwifery staff in the delivery of basic care to mothers and newborns.
- Report directly to the Registered Nurse/Midwife in the unit.
- Integrate into the midwifery, nursing and multidisciplinary team.
- Work largely in the Well Baby Nursery overnight.
Requirements
- Certificate 3 in Health Service Assistant and/or Evidence of completion of first year of bachelor’s degree in nursing or Midwifery.
- Willingness to assist with care of the newborn, including daily cares, observation and supporting parents in their transition to parenthood.
- Ability and flexibility to work night duty.
- Previous experience in an acute healthcare or maternity setting is desirable but not essential.
- Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or have an Australian visa that grants the necessary work rights.
