About the Role
AECOM is seeking a Senior Architectural Technologist to lead technical delivery on complex projects, drive excellence in BIM and digital design, and contribute to their Industrialised Construction strategy. This role involves advancing technical standards, delivery innovation, and design quality within a globally recognised design practice.
Responsibilities
- Lead the production and coordination of technical design information across RIBA Stages 3 to 5.
- Champion best practice in BIM, digital workflows, and project delivery.
- Support the development and implementation of industrialised construction, DfMA, and MMC approaches.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and manufacturers to improve quality, efficiency, and buildability.
- Lead the production, coordination, and review of detailed technical design information across RIBA Stages 3 to 5.
- Deliver coordinated, compliant, and buildable construction documentation using advanced BIM methodologies.
- Provide technical guidance and problem-solving throughout project delivery.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to resolve complex design and construction challenges.
- Support construction-stage activities, including RFIs, technical reviews, site inspections, and design compliance reviews.
- Ensure project outputs align with the Building Safety Act, Building Regulations, British Standards, and sector-specific technical guidance.
- Champion BIM best practice and model-based project delivery.
- Support the development and implementation of digital delivery standards and workflows.
- Contribute to the advancement of automation, computational design, and emerging digital tools.
- Promote efficient, coordinated, and data-driven approaches to project delivery.
- Work closely with the Digital & Technical Lead to drive continuous improvement and innovation across the practice.
- Support the development and implementation of the Architecture & Design Industrialised Construction Strategy.
- Embed DfMA, MMC, and industrialised construction principles into project delivery.
- Develop and maintain technical content, BIM libraries, reusable components, and standardised design solutions.
- Collaborate with manufacturers and supply-chain partners to integrate product and manufacturing knowledge into design workflows.
- Help drive greater efficiency, consistency, and quality through standardisation and digital-enabled delivery.
- Champion technical excellence and quality assurance across project teams.
- Review project outputs to ensure compliance, coordination, and buildability.
- Contribute to technical standards, design guides, and best-practice documentation.
- Support continuous improvement in project delivery methodologies and technical governance.
- Mentor and support architects, technologists, and technicians across project teams.
- Share knowledge and best practice in technical delivery, BIM, and industrialised construction.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
- Support capability building across technical and digital disciplines.
Requirements
- Degree or Higher Education qualification in Architectural Technology or a related discipline.
- Significant experience delivering technical design across RIBA Stages 3 to 5.
- Advanced proficiency in Revit and BIM authoring within multidisciplinary project environments.
- Strong understanding of construction detailing, building systems, and technical coordination.
- Detailed knowledge of the Building Safety Act, Building Regulations, British Standards, and relevant technical guidance.
- Proven ability to coordinate technical delivery across complex projects.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
