About the Role

Change Grow Live is a charity seeking enthusiastic and friendly individuals with lived experience of substance abuse to join their team as Recovery Champions in Newham Rise. This role involves supporting individuals impacted by substance misuse and their families, as well as collaborating with key partners to empower communities.

Responsibilities

• Provide a welcoming and consistent environment in the open access area.
• Create links with local communities to target individuals affected by drugs and alcohol who are not engaged with mainstream services.
• Attend team meetings and group supervision to share best practices and find solutions.
• Meet individuals in the community to discuss their recovery goals and support families affected by drugs and alcohol.
• Utilize existing local resources and build community awareness, signposting to relevant agencies.
• Assist the Volunteer and Peer Mentor Coordinator in identifying specialist advice, support, and recovery opportunities.

Requirements

• Lived experience of drug or/and alcohol misuse.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Good IT skills.
• Ability to build relationships with individuals with multiple needs empathetically and non-judgmentally.
• Confident working independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Willingness to travel as required, including areas where public transport is unavailable.
• Must have the right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not provided.
