About the Role
The Lower School Associate Teacher works alongside lead and specialist teachers to support the academic and social development of students in grades K-4. This two-year program offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and professional development in a collaborative, team-teaching environment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate on curriculum development, assessments, and reporting
- Manage student portfolios and parent/guardian communications
- Prepare and lead whole group, small group, and individual lessons
- Implement enrichment and support strategies for diverse learning needs
- Collaborate with Student Learning Services and Health & Wellness teams
- Participate in parent/guardian conferences and report writing
- Manage classroom preparation, organization, and logistics
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
- Attend weekly faculty meetings and professional development sessions
- Build respectful relationships with students
- Supervise students during recess, lunch, and carpool
- Chaperone field trips and overnight outdoor education trips
- Participate in school assemblies and special events
- Serve on committees and working groups
- Co-lead affinity groups, assist with admissions, or coach sports teams
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience working with children
- Desire to pursue a career in education
- Commitment to professional growth, reflective practice, and a growth mindset
- Strong collaborative skills

- Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and operate office equipment
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
