About the Role

CHANEL Fashion Division Visual Merchandiser will maximize the brand's worldview in boutiques and event spaces, and through the construction and maintenance of a globally unified image, will work daily to captivate CHANEL fans nationwide. As a member of the HQ VM Studio team, you will build smooth cooperative relationships with boutiques and Paris, and be responsible for visual merchandising in fashion boutiques (street stores, department stores, airports). This position reports to the VM Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the brand's worldview and seasonal concepts, and create a consistent, luxurious customer experience in boutiques, windows, and event spaces.
  • Plan and execute VM plans to embody the unified collection image in domestic stores based on VM guidelines from Paris.
  • Maintain and improve the unified brand image by regularly inspecting displays, product placement, lighting, customer flow, and the condition of fixtures and tools during regular boutique tours.
  • Execute window displays, in-store layouts, and the setup of props and fixtures for collection launches, events, and special exhibitions.
  • Propose displays, styling, and zoning that maximize product appeal, considering product strategy and customer flow, without altering the globally common collection message.
  • Provide advice to boutique VM staff and sales associates to enhance reproducibility and expressiveness in boutiques by clearly explaining VM guidelines, the intent of displays, and key selling points.
  • Perform late-night work approximately 1-2 days every other month (for window display changes, event setups, etc.).
  • Undertake domestic business trips approximately 1-2 times per month.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of practical experience in VMD for fashion, luxury, designer brands, or department stores/specialty stores.
  • Experience in understanding global guidelines and executing/improving VMD according to store environments.
  • Practical experience in spatial design using window displays, in-store layouts, props, fixtures, and lighting.
  • Experience in VMD instruction/training for store staff, or実績 in environmental improvement through collaboration with store staff.
  • Business-level Japanese proficiency.
  • Business-level English proficiency (able to handle emails, document reviews, and meetings with the Paris team).
  • Skills in creating reports, VMD instruction manuals, and proposal documents using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with design and spatial expression tools such as Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop and SketchUp is a plus (optional).
