About the Role
Reporting to the Area General Manager, you'll take full ownership of the hotel's day-to-day operations, commercial success, and team culture. Leading a diverse team across Rooms, Food & Beverage, Conferencing, and Support Services, you'll drive performance across every aspect of the business while ensuring every guest enjoys an exceptional stay. This is a highly visible leadership role requiring equal parts operational excellence, commercial acumen, and people leadership.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of hotel operations across Rooms, Food & Beverage, Events, and Maintenance, ensuring operational excellence, exceptional guest experiences, and consistent delivery of brand standards while managing critical incidents and after-hours matters.
- Drive commercial performance through strategic revenue, sales, and marketing initiatives, maximizing Net RevPAR, profitability, market share, and overall business outcomes.
- Manage budgets, forecasting, financial reporting, and cost-control measures, ensuring labor efficiency, effective debtor management, and strong operational performance.
- Lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams through recruitment, onboarding, performance management, succession planning, and talent development, while fostering an inclusive and collaborative workplace culture.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, corporate stakeholders, suppliers, and community partners, providing regular business updates, leading property inspections and owner meetings, and overseeing CAPEX planning initiatives.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a senior hotel leadership role, ideally as a Hotel General Manager.
- Demonstrated success leading Rooms, Food & Beverage, and Conference & Events operations.
- Strong commercial background with proven experience growing revenue and profitability.
- Experience managing hotel budgets, forecasting, business planning, and asset management.
- Inspirational leadership style with the ability to engage, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong coaching and talent development capability.
- High emotional intelligence and the confidence to navigate complex stakeholder relationships.
- Proven ability to lead through change and drive continuous improvement.
- Strong understanding of revenue management principles and hotel performance metrics.
- Sound knowledge of workforce planning, labor management, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to analyze business performance and execute strategies that deliver results.
- Understanding of WHS, food safety, and hotel compliance requirements.
- Full, unrestricted Australian working rights (sponsorship is not available for this position).
