About the Role

Sydney Health & Care Services (SHCS) is seeking reliable Home Care and Community Support Workers to assist participants with mental health challenges, complex behaviours, and dual diagnosis in South Coogee, Whalan, and Chipping Norton.

Responsibilities

  • Support people with complex needs, ABI, and/or mental health.
  • Supervise and prompt medication administration.
  • Utilize a strong emotional regulation and calm communication style.
  • Employ validation, reassurance, and redirection during distress.
  • Respect participant choice and control, including refusal of support.
  • Follow Behaviour Support Plans and safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate, objective documentation.
  • Provide personal care and manual handling when necessary.
  • Assist with hygiene, cleaning, and bedding.

Requirements

  • A reliable car with comprehensive insurance (mandatory).
  • Australian driver's licence.
  • Willingness to travel across Sydney.
  • Proven reliability, professionalism, and excellent communication.
  • Minimum 6 months experience in mental health, disability support, or community services (or Certificate IV in Mental Health).
  • Calm under pressure with strong judgment and boundaries.
  • Smartphone literacy for rostering and documentation.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Working With Children Check (NSW).
  • First Aid & CPR.
  • Police Check.
  • Unrestricted work rights in Australia.
