About the Role
This role is a casual position within the Mater Maternity Team, providing support to Nursing and Midwifery staff in delivering basic care to mothers and newborns. You will report to the Registered Nurse/Midwife and integrate into the multidisciplinary team, primarily working in the Well Baby Nursery overnight.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to Nursing and Midwifery staff in the delivery of basic care to mothers and newborns.
- Assist with care of the newborn, including daily cares and observation.
- Support parents in their transition to parenthood.
Requirements
- Certificate 3 in Health Service Assistant and/or Evidence of completion of first year of bachelor’s degree in nursing or Midwifery.
- Willingness to assist with care of the newborn, including daily cares, observation and supporting parents in their transition to parenthood.
- Ability and flexibility to work night duty.
- Previous experience in an acute healthcare or maternity setting is desirable but not essential.
- Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or have an Australia visa that grants the necessary work rights.
