About the Role

The Veterinary Technician position involves providing excellent veterinary care to Vetco Total Care hospital patients and phenomenal customer care to their owners. This role represents the mission and values to all clients and partners, setting the tone for the technical and customer support team.

Responsibilities

  • Greet clients and patients, escort into exam rooms, obtain weight and vital signs, and record information in the electronic medical record.
  • Assist veterinarians with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia.
  • Perform patient restraint, obtain and process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications, and maintain electronic medical records.
  • Schedule appointments, communicate with and educate clients, relay test results, maintain inventory and records, and manage accounts receivable.
  • Prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures, monitor anesthetized patients, and monitor patients during recovery.
  • Provide in-hospital treatments for sick patients, including administering medications and therapies.
  • Participate in the training of new staff members and knowledge dissemination.
  • Maintain a neat and clean hospital environment.
  • Provide backup phone and front desk support as needed.

Requirements

  • College or college-equivalent education as required to become a Credentialed Veterinary Technician in the state of practice.
  • At least 1 year of previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or working in a veterinary practice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Compassionate and sympathetic demeanor.
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude during emotional and stressful situations.
  • Telephone and computer skills.
  • Team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments, offer creative ideas, and accept change.
