About the Role
The Commercial Planning Analyst is responsible for delivering and maintaining the organization’s business reporting of key revenue metrics to ensure maximization of guests and revenue for the Celebrity Cruises brand in Australia & New Zealand. This role provides insights and reporting on business performance at a local product level and on globally deployed ships to achieve the market’s annual guest and revenue plan.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and update weekly performance reporting, including the weekly trading meeting and sailing level performance summary.
- Continuously seek ways to improve reporting efficiency and drive further insights.
- Review booked Average Per Day (APD) versus forecast weekly/monthly, reporting key findings and opportunities/risks to the revenue team.
- Provide concise summaries of recommended pricing and inventory changes to the North America Revenue Team.
- Monitor competitor pricing and promotions, reporting trends to the North America Revenue Team and senior management.
- Review market performance against the annual sourcing plan, providing concise summaries of sourcing requirement changes.
- Make recommendations for optimizing the rest of world sourcing mix based on itinerary, sailing length, and proximity to sailing.
- Analyze channel performance and share against track and forecast, providing concise summaries of implications for remaining bookings.
- Continuously review booking performance versus track, identifying sailings requiring additional focus.
- Optimize the future track curve through booking window analysis (passenger and APD) combined with promotional and strategic initiatives.
- Communicate changes and work with Miami to ensure successful loading.
- Recommend and implement improvements to the local track override model.
- Develop an understanding of retention rate models and their impact on the booked position.
- Act as the first line of defense in identifying unexpected movements in the booked position driven by retention behavior.
- Work with the Commercial Director to investigate retention behavior.
- Provide regular analysis on booking performance in relation to the promotional strategy.
- Offer strategic insights and performance analysis to Senior Management for the Annual Operating Plan process.
- Establish and maintain successful relationships with peers in Revenue Management, Revenue Planning, and International Business Performance teams in Miami.
- Advocate for the Australia office and work with Miami teams to adopt new reporting tools or request local support.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Experience gained within the travel industry is preferred.
- Proactive and positive way of working.
- Commercial vision and a highly analytical approach.
- Developed strategic and business analysis skills and effective decision making.
- Highly numerate, able to work with mathematical concepts (probability, percentages, ratios, etc.).
- Proven experience using data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
- Advanced MS Excel skills.
- SQL experience is preferred.
- Strong personal organization and ability to work to deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate, present, and influence credibly.
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and resourcefulness in decision making and problem solving.
