About the Role
As a Technical Solutions Manager, you will transform complex technical and financial information into high-quality R&D tax credit claims for companies across Canada and the U.S. You will work directly with technical and R&D teams to understand their work, identify eligible R&D activities, and translate complex projects into clear, defensible claim narratives. You will also quantify eligible spend by reviewing payroll data, contractor costs, and financial documentation through Boast’s platform and delivery process. This role combines technical curiosity, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple concurrent claim deliverables in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while balancing quality, accuracy, and competing priorities
- Conduct technical interviews with client teams to understand R&D activities, technical challenges, and iterative development work
- Analyze technical, payroll, contractor, and financial information to support eligible R&D tax credit claims
- Translate complex technical discussions into clear claim narratives, supporting documentation, financial inputs, and client deliverables
- Apply SR&ED program requirements and eligibility criteria to technical projects and supporting evidence throughout the claim preparation process
- Prepare and support claim deliverables through audit preparation, government reviews, documentation requests, and client follow-up alongside Delivery Managers and Client Partners
- Identify gaps, risks, or unclear information in claim materials and proactively work with clients and internal teams to resolve them
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve internal processes, strengthen delivery quality, and support continued platform improvements
Requirements
- 1–3+ years of experience in a STEM, R&D, SR&ED, technical consulting, engineering, software, scientific, or related environment
- Strong ability to understand technical discussions, ask effective follow-up questions, and synthesize complex information into clear written narratives
- Bilingual fluency in French and English is required.
- Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Asana, GitHub, Clickup, Linear, Notion), accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, FreshBooks, Oracle NetSuite) and payroll systems (Ceridian, Wagepoint, QuickBooks) or similar tools, and best practices within each system
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities
- Comfort working with payroll data, contractor costs, financial documentation, or other structured operational data
- Familiarity with R&D tax credits, SR&ED, government incentives, or grant funding is considered a strong asset
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical teams, client stakeholders, and internal delivery partners
- A proactive, curious, and solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to operate independently once context and expectations are clear
- Ability to travel occasionally for client meetings, conferences, or team collaboration

- $65,000 - $85,000 annually, plus up to a 10% discretionary bonus
