About the Role

The Software Engineer designs, develops, and maintains automation & AI solutions that support the Networks Division. Working as part of a cross-functional engineering team, the role delivers reliable, secure, and scalable applications that support network operations and business objectives. The Software Engineer works closely with the Lead Software Developer to deliver new features, align with technical direction, and integrate solutions with broader automation platforms and frameworks. The role spans the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, deployment, documentation, maintenance, and operational support, while contributing to continuous improvement and the development of reusable tools and components. A key requirement for this role is proven experience building production-ready AI agents and a strong background in telecommunications network engineering, ensuring that solutions are practical, scalable, reliable, and aligned with operational network requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and maintain high-quality software products as part of the Networks Automation and AI Development team.
  • Contribute to code reviews to support quality, maintainability, and adherence to internal engineering standards.
  • Develop and implement components based on low-level design specifications, ensuring accuracy, performance, and architectural alignment.
  • Produce clear and complete technical documentation to support operational teams, engineering workflows, and continuous maintenance.
  • Provide technical support for complex issues, collaborating with the Lead Software Developer to apply best practice engineering approaches.
  • Participate in Tier 3 support activities, including incident investigation, software upgrades, patching, and lifecycle maintenance.
  • Support monitoring of product KPIs and assist in ensuring compliance with cybersecurity requirements and internal governance practices.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to enable adoption of product features, reusable tools, and automation capabilities.
  • Maintain and update platform documentation, configuration baselines, and operational runbooks.

Requirements

  • 4+ years in Software Development, DevOps, or Automation roles.
  • Solid understanding of software security and compliance fundamentals.
  • Experience working with databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis Cache.
  • Experience with programming languages including Python and JavaScript/TypeScript (Ansible scripting desirable).
  • Familiarity with tools such as GitLab, Ansible Automation Platform, MinIO, Apache Airflow, and Mapbox.
  • Familiarity with observability tooling (e.g., ELK, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
  • Familiarity with technologies & platforms including React, Node.js, FastAPI, Red Hat OpenShift, and GIS.
  • Experience working in agile, cross-functional environments.
  • Previous experience with telecommunications networks or network automation is desirable.
  • Experience with GCP is highly desirable, including Generative AI, Gemini, BigQuery/BigQuery ML, and GenAI functions (embeddings, similarity, LLM inference).
