About the Role

Coordinates all consultations for the Outpatient Infusion Center for patients. Serves as a liaison between referring physician offices, patients and staff to ensure appointments are scheduled and all required information for patient intake is received in a thorough and timely manner. Works directly with the attending physicians, advanced practice providers and nursing staff throughout the patient intake process. Utilizes a variety of information systems to schedule patients and process related patient record information; performs a variety of associated general clerical functions. Demonstrates outstanding customer service and the Key Behaviors, outlined in the Hospital's Core Success Factors in all interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the scheduling of all patient Infusions based on the individual needs of patients as requested by referring physician, following established protocols.
  • Schedules patients from various sources and maintains schedules, including MD Scheduling changes, setup, and validation.
  • Gathers and ensures the timely and complete compilation of all patients' medical record information, results from screening and diagnostic tests, and surgical reports.
  • Performs site and telephone reception, serving as a patient liaison in the clinic with a focus on efficient patient throughput and effective communication.
  • Serves as patient liaison between visits and the infusion/procedural suite.
  • Prepares all related forms, patient card, and ID bracelet, and advises patients on necessary preparations for testing.
  • Performs general clerical functions to ensure accurate, prompt, and effective scheduling.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • Minimum of two years experience in a clinical setting, preferably in an outpatient setting, required.
  • Experience with telephone reception and scheduling preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Epic preferred.

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Working knowledge of the patient scheduling process.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to understand and independently follow established protocols regarding triage of patient schedules.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Problem-solving tactics.

Experience Level

  • Minimum of two years experience

Education Level

  • Associate's degree or training/certification in clinical setting preferred.
