About the Role

Lead Consultants (LCs) at A.M. Crawford (AMC) advise non-profit clients on fundraising strategies, grant development, donor engagement, and grants management to help them grow their impact and expand services. AMC serves a diverse range of non-profit clients across the US in various sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic grant opportunity pipelines and proposal pursuit strategies.
  • Write grant submissions for federal agencies, state actors, foundations, and corporations.
  • Conduct funder and grant application research.
  • Perform solicitation assessments and go/no go analyses.
  • Conduct compliance reviews.
  • Write and review technical narratives and budgets.
  • Manage funder coordination and stakeholder networking.
  • Integrate AI approaches into proposal design and delivery.
  • Manage AMC’s contracts with clients, ensuring compliance with labor hour ceilings.
  • Monitor required leads and submission of proposals.
  • Ensure return on investment based on grant funds raised.
  • Ensure assigned client contracts and deliverables are on time, on budget, and meet quality standards.
  • Manage client relationships and expectations.
  • Lead coordination with clients to understand funding needs and propose grant fundraising strategies.
  • Analyze grant solicitations and develop targeted win strategies.
  • Lead the proposal writing and budgeting process, potentially working with external consultants.
  • Provide updates on submissions, contract return on investment, and funding strategies.
  • Delegate activities and coordinate teams, including setting up and managing client projects in Asana.
  • Manage multiple client contracts, overseeing budgets, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Meet or exceed 300 billable client hours per quarter.
  • Monitor progress toward contract deliverables and manage team workflow.
  • Keep clients informed on contract/project progress.
  • Set up project time budgets in Harvest and monitor hours.
  • Identify team member strengths and weaknesses and recommend training opportunities.
  • Spearhead the incorporation of new tools, including AI platforms, into workflows.
  • Develop new service offerings in collaboration with management.
  • Identify opportunities to provide additional services to clients, such as post-award grants management.
  • Perform other duties as determined by management.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five years of experience in proposal writing, fundraising, or non-profit consulting.
  • Familiarity with non-profit fundraising databases (e.g., Candid, Instrumentl).
  • Familiarity with federal awards management processes (including from USAID, the Department of Labor, and other agencies).
  • Familiarity with Shipley proposal processes is highly preferred.
  • Deep familiarity with proposal design and development best practices.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical skills.
  • Strong financial acumen.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proven project management expertise.
  • Proficiency with key technological platforms including ChatGPT, workflow tasking software (e.g., Asana), Google Workspace, Candid, time tracking tools, and/or other cloud-based project management systems.
  • Fluency with AI and digital productivity tools.
  • A collaborative, entrepreneurial mindset.
