About the Role
Drivers operate heavy-duty trucks to transport materials to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities. They are responsible for the pick-up service of waste or recyclable materials, navigating various roadways and performing skilled backing maneuvers. This role requires strict compliance with safety rules and protocols, and may involve drug and alcohol testing.
Responsibilities
- Operates vehicle in accordance with safety and legal requirements.
- Performs and documents pre and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Immediately reports unsafe situations or service-related issues.
- Attends required training, briefings, and meetings.
- Collaborates with management to improve route efficiencies.
- Notifies management of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
- Notifies management of service interruptions or potential hazards.
- Communicates customer requests to management.
- Ensures complete dumping of receptacles and leaves the customer’s location clean.
- Follows route assignments and completes end-of-day documentation.
- Performs duties as scheduled and assists other drivers as needed.
Requirements
- 1 year operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or equivalent military driving within the last 7 years.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the country.
- Able to read, write, and speak English sufficiently for job-related interactions.
- Successfully complete pre-employment screening, including drug screen and physical.
- Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A with an air-brake endorsement or Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class B with an air-brake endorsement.
- Must have or be willing to obtain a REAL ID or TSA-approved alternative.
