About the Role
The Regional Communications Manager will plan and implement communications and marketing activities to drive business objectives, increase the visibility of the Red Cross mission, support revenue generation, and educate the public on service access. This role involves providing strategic support, leadership guidance to volunteers, and executing communication initiatives across Western New York.
Responsibilities
- Execute media relations strategy by maintaining media relationships and distributing news materials
- Respond to local media inquiries and serve as a spokesperson
- Train, coach, and prepare other spokespersons
- Implement strategic and change management communications
- Provide support for public affairs and communication activities
- Build, train, engage, and supervise a team of communications and public affairs volunteers
- Support social media engagement and produce content for web and social platforms
- Coordinate cross-functional resources for marketing programs
- Develop brand and creative content for external publications
- Secure in-kind PSA placements
- Deploy physically or virtually to support disaster response operations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proven knowledge of AP Style
- Demonstrated experience managing professional social media platforms for an organization
- Comfortable using website content management systems and marketing tools
- Willingness to serve as a media spokesperson
- Ability to work on a team
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
- Ability to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods
- 10% travel requirement
