About the Role
As a Principal Product Manager for Identity & Access Management, you will define the strategy, roadmap, and execution for Procore's authorization infrastructure. This role is critical to the platform's security and scalability, involving the development of fine-grained access control, AI agent permissions, and policy frameworks that govern user and service interactions across the global construction platform.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the multi-year vision and roadmap for the authorization platform.
- Translate complex authorization requirements into clear, defensible product strategies.
- Author vision documents, opportunity assessments, and product briefs for executive stakeholders.
- Break large, complex initiatives into shippable, incremental phases.
- Lead discovery with enterprise customers, security buyers, and developers to identify unmet needs.
- Partner with engineering, security, and design to build scalable, secure, and developer-friendly solutions.
- Anticipate technical risks related to performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Drive cross-functional alignment across IAM, core platform, and product teams.
- Define KPIs and track initiative-level customer and business outcomes.
- Coordinate go-to-market efforts with Sales, Support, and Enablement teams.
- Utilize generative AI tools to accelerate discovery, research, and specification writing.
- Define authorization policies and permission frameworks for AI agents.
- Mentor and provide oversight to junior product managers.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of product management experience.
- Meaningful depth in Identity and Access Management, specifically authorization systems (RBAC, ABAC, ReBAC, policy engines).
- Proven track record of owning strategically important and highly ambiguous product areas.
- Ability to operate with minimal direction and a strong bias for action.
- Experience as a systems thinker capable of identifying downstream risks and edge cases.
- Strong ability to synthesize data from customer discovery, competitive intelligence, and analytics.
- World-class written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong technical foundation in API design, policy evaluation, and token structures.
- AI-forward vision with an understanding of agentic software development and its impact on authorization.
