About the Role

This newly created Account Manager role within the Acquiring team will drive growth by identifying and developing new sales opportunities, managing stakeholder relationships, and supporting strategic initiatives to enhance AP+’s market position and deliver value.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, qualify and convert new commercial opportunities, building a strong and sustainable pipeline aligned to growth objectives.
  • Manage strategic customer relationships to drive revenue growth, retention and long-term account value.
  • Lead the development of high-quality bids, proposals and commercial offers, including pricing, budgeting and value proposition development.
  • Execute eftpos product and innovation roadmap.
  • Analyze market, customer and performance data to identify insights, growth opportunities and areas to deliver value for both eftpos and the Acquirer.
  • Build and influence senior stakeholder relationships to deliver commercially sound and mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Develop business cases, investment appraisals and recommendations that support informed decision-making and strategic priorities.
  • Track, measure and report on commercial performance, benefits realisation and progress against agreed objectives.
  • Provide strategic advice and recommendations to address client needs, improve business effectiveness and support organisational growth.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a commercial account management, business development or strategic sales role within the payments or banking industry.
  • 3-5 years in an Acquiring role, with Card Not Present (CNP) and Card Present (CP) experience and skills highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of merchant acquiring, payments ecosystems, commercial models and the role of banks, schemes, processors and payment technology providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and grow strategic customer relationships, ideally with experience working with or alongside major Australian banks.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to identify growth opportunities, shape value propositions and translate customer needs into commercially viable solutions.
  • Proven track record in leading proposals, bids and commercial negotiations, including pricing, budgeting and business case development.
  • Data-driven mindset, with experience analysing customer, market and performance trends to uncover insights and inform account strategy.
  • Experience contributing to strategic planning, investment appraisals, demand analysis and benefits management in support of commercial growth initiatives.
