About the Role

The Production Supervisor is a key member of the Operations Team, responsible for maintaining a professional working environment focused on customer service, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement. This role ensures products meet or exceed standards for safety, quality, cost, productivity, and customer service within a food manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise shifts to maintain product flow according to production requirements, customer specifications, and productivity targets.
  • Ensure product and packaging quality and efficiencies.
  • Manage shop floor logistics, including production sequence, equipment utilization, staffing levels, product costs, run times, line efficiencies, and operational capacity.
  • Ensure daily production schedules are met and communicate all issues promptly and accurately.
  • Monitor shift production activities against the production plan and paperwork, communicating progress within the team.
  • Oversee and assist team members in production activities to ensure QC protocols are followed with accurate and timely documentation.
  • Verify that all necessary raw materials and packaging are in stock for the production plan.
  • Ensure work is performed according to SOPs, GMPs, Food Safety Requirements, and Health and Safety standards.
  • Deliver training to team members on production SOPs, GMPs, equipment, and Health & Safety Standards.
  • Monitor and maintain high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping.
  • Conduct timely and effective line handovers between shifts, including documentation and briefing on progress/issues.
  • Ensure proper maintenance, sanitation, and Health & Safety protocols are followed by all team members.
  • Check and verify timekeeping logs for assigned team members daily.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation and codes, including WSIB, HACCP, WHMIS, & Workplace H&S.
  • Assist and support R&D, QC, Maintenance/Engineering, and Production Department Managers in troubleshooting and resolving problems.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in Food Manufacturing facilities.
  • Hands-on and results-oriented supervisory experience.

Skills

  • Identify, schedule, and follow up on preventative equipment maintenance.
  • Comprehend general mechanical processes.
  • Work with employees to ensure HACCP, USDA OSHA, and other regulatory standards are met.
  • Maintain or exceed goals on yields, productivity, and efficiencies.
  • Understand and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to production staff.
  • Work well with a diverse workforce.
  • Solicit suggestions for safety, efficiency, and morale from all employee levels.
  • Possess effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to sustain excellent interpersonal and labor relations across cultural and ethnic diversity.
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proficient with basic standard office computer technology such as Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).
  • Proficiency to diagnose and coordinate activities to solve Mechanical Manufacturing issues.

  • $71,818.10 - $109,493.18
