About the Role
Manage and supervise all engineering and administrative policies, procedures, and functions at a project level. Coordinate with project field operations to ensure information transfer is delivered, understood, and implemented.
Responsibilities
- Develop a comprehensive working knowledge of contract documents.
- Lead, supervise, and develop engineering staff.
- Ensure adherence to safety, ethics, and compliance requirements.
- Oversee communication among all project team members.
- Establish procedures for information flow, approvals, meetings, and reporting with design professionals, consultants, owners, and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with Preconstruction, Estimating, and Purchasing on project budgets and lead preconstruction efforts related to Project Engineering.
- Conduct construction document reviews for constructability and QA/QC, addressing concerns with design professionals.
- Participate in studies, material/method recommendations, and cost estimates.
- Prepare a detailed contract items list and develop trade scope of work documents.
- Prepare a procurement schedule for timely buy-outs and schedule compliance.
- Manage the financial status of the project and prepare financial reports.
- Schedule, conduct, and document job meetings, owner-architect, and coordination meetings.
- Manage the subcontract change order process, including review, negotiation, and owner approvals.
- Manage project close-out, including warranties, guarantees, acceptance, subcontract/vendor close-out, final payment, and records retention.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree plus a minimum of eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and cost control procedures.
- Knowledge of estimating, construction costs, scheduling, purchasing, and engineering principles and techniques.
- Familiarity with various building systems.
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to implement leading-edge technologies such as Building Information Models (BIM) and Lean.
- Demonstrated ability to understand drawings, specifications, general contract and subcontract documents, materials, means, and methods.
- Very strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, use construction personnel hoists, climb ladders, and negotiate work areas under construction.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; sit, talk, and hear; stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
